you are receiving this issue by snail mail please make sure to contact
Sherri Miller, President HTS at phone 969-9432 or e-mail to inform her of your e-mail address so HTS can keep sending you the monthly newsletter via e-mail.

HTS is staffed by volunteers who have to balance HTS activities with their business, family and other activities. Printing
out and mailing the HTS newsletter versus sending it via e-mail is both
time and cost prohibitive plus not real eco-friendly!

Hawaii
Tea Society is now going on it's 6th year since we first started as a
handful of artists and tea enthusiast gathered in Volcano Village
experiencing tea with leading horticulturist and research scientist Dr.
Francis Zee. Since that time our organization has reached a membership
of 100 with numerous tea growers that has created a strong foundation
in developing a small-scale tea industry for the state of Hawaii. I
would like to thank the following organizations for their generous
support over the years. USDA Pacific Basin Agriculture Research Center,
University of Hawaii at Manoa, Hilo College of Tropical Agriculture and
Human Resources, Hawaii County Office of Research & Development and
the Hawaii Farm Bureau. Their guidance and support has enabled us to
facilitate numerous educational programs, workshops, field propagation,
seminars and hosting of industry professionals providing a rich
resource for Hawaii's tea growing community.

It
has been my pleasure to serve the Hawaii Tea Society as President for
the past 3 years. I look forward to focusing on the HTS expanded
propagation program and will continue as a board member to speak on
behalf of the Hawaii Tea Society organization.

Please
join me in welcoming our new officers and board of directors of 2008.
They all have much to offer our organization and with your support will
bring Hawaii's unique tea industry into the future.
