Hawai'i Tea Society presents…. Lecture Series: "Fundamentals
of Tea"


Fundamentals of Tea

 

On
Thursday April 19th, 2007 from 6-8 PM at the
UHH Campus University Classroom Building, Ho'oulu Terrace, Room 127 the Hawai'i Tea Society
presents "Fundamentals of Tea". This
class is part one of the Hawai'i Tea Society lecture series which will be
presented in Hilo, Volcano, and Waimea this year.

 

The
speakers are trained members of the Hawai'i Tea Society who recently attended the
Specialty Tea Institute of America's tea certification seminars. They are local tea growers who represent a
spectrum of the community who is participating in Hawaii's tea industry.

 

 

Speakers
and organizers include Jeanette Baysa of Mountain View, Kimberly Ino of
Honoka'a, Shelly Downing of Kapoho, Mike Longo and Rob Nunally of Onomea Bay,
and Randy Nunokawa of Hawai'i Community College.

Highlights
of the evening program include tea history, geography, tea types, processing,
brewing and tasting. Those attending the program will receive a free porcelain
teacup to bring home.

Tea for the event is being donated
by Onomea Tea Company, a winner of the 2006 inaugural local tea competition
sponsored by the Hawai'i Tea Society.

The Hawaii Tea Society is a non
profit organization formed to foster development of a unique tea culture and
industry in the state of Hawai'i. This program is made possible by the generous support of
the Hawaii County Department of Research and Development and the Hawaii Farm
Bureau Federation.

Date/ Time: Thursday,
April 19th. Class time is 6:00-8:00
pm. Registration begins at 6 pm.

Place: University
Classroom Building,
Ho'oulu Terrace, Room 127.

Cost: $3 members / $5 non-members. Please register in advance.
